Renewed Demand for the Removal of Dr. Matthew Dumstorf
Issued by: Pilots for HIMS Reform
Date: June 26, 2025
Following the June 25 NTSB hearing and the release of new whistleblower allegations, Pilots for HIMS Reform is renewing its formal call for the immediate removal of Dr. Matthew Dumstorf from any position of medical authority within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
On June 26, 2025, Pilots for HIMS Reform submitted a second formal request to FAA leadership demanding the immediate removal of Dr. Matthew Dumstorf. This renewed letter highlights new testimony from the June 25 NTSB hearing and recently uncovered concerns about professional misconduct. For full transparency, the submitted document is available here: Read the renewed request for removal (PDF).
Why This Call Is Being Renewed
Testimony Confirms Abuse of Power:
Dr. Dumstorf’s own testimony before the NTSB affirmed concerns long raised by our coalition—namely, that FAA medical decisions are often based on subjective impressions, not science.
Credibility in Question:
A newly published anonymous article titled “Weaponized Credentials” highlights grave concerns regarding Dr. Dumstorf’s lack of board certification in addiction or psychiatric medicine. The whistleblower accuses him of practicing “make-believe medicine” and operating without adherence to basic ethical standards.

Due Process Violations:
The Goldberg Rule—established in U.S. Supreme Court precedent—requires a fair hearing before the government takes away a person’s livelihood. Yet under Dumstorf’s leadership, pilots are removed from service without transparent procedures, adequate hearings, or scientific justification.
Our Demands
We again call on the FAA, Congress, and the Department of Transportation to take immediate action to:
- Remove Dr. Dumstorf from his current role in FAA medical oversight.
- Initiate an independent investigation into his qualifications, medical authority, and conduct.
- Establish objective, evidence-based standards for all FAA medical decisions going forward.
We Stand for Science, Ethics, and Accountability
HIMS participants, air traffic controllers, and pilots deserve leadership that respects medical ethics and due process—not subjective bias or professional overreach. The credibility of FAA medical certification depends on restoring trust, transparency, and integrity.
This is not a personal attack. It is a professional accountability demand.
We welcome further whistleblowers to come forward anonymously. Your voice matters—and it will be heard.
If you believe the FAA should take immediate action, we encourage you to email the FAA directly.
Sincerely,
The Pilots for HIMS Reform Team
